We reworked this 1960s ocean-view home into a modern, low-maintenance residence designed for aging in place without compromising the client’s distinct sense of style. Guided by Japanese design principles, the home layers natural materials; rift white oak, plaster, patterned carpet, and sculptural art, to register subtle shifts in light throughout the day. Quiet moments of craft are embedded throughout, like this backlit bar wrapped in pale lava stone and oak, discreet in presence, precise in execution.
